The Hindu-Hitachi Scholarships

In association with Hitachi Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, THE HINDU invites applications for scholarships for technical training in JAPAN. The number of scholarships will be three. The terms and conditions are as follows:
1. Candidates who must be Indian Citizens, should not have completed 30 years of age on 31-03-2011 and should be in possession of the minimum Degree of B.E., or B.Sc. (Engg.) or its equivalent from any recognized University. Candidates who have already had practical experience in the branches for which training is proposed to be given, will be given preference. Candidates with at least one year’s professional experience need apply. Those who were interviewed in previous years for the Scholarships need not apply again.
2. The scholarships are tenable in Japan for principally six months commencing about July 2011. Trainees may have general training in one of the following product fields of Hitachi Ltd., (Hitachi) for example (1) Industrial Systems (2) Transportation Systems (3) Power Systems (4) Information and Telecommunication Systems, being subject to the convenience of each of Hitachi’s establishments. During the training, there will be special emphasis on environment-related and energy-saving technologies.
3. Trainees shall be during their training, under the supervision and direction of Hitachi, which has full discretion on scope, mode, duration and place of establishment of their training. Training will not be available in the R&D activities of Hitachi. They will be subject to the rules and regulations and the discipline of the establishment to which they are posted.

Research Assistant, Environmental Science at Griffith University, jewish scholarships

This position is a member of the Forestry, Soils and Ecosystem Management (FSEM) group within the Environmental Futures Centre (EFC), and is one of the group's two full time research assistants. This position provides major field assistance, undertakes some laboratory work and assists in the group administration and other duties as directed by the Director and the Senior Staff members of FSEM

This is a Fixed term (2 years), Full time position based at the Nathan campus.

The role:
The Research Assistant will provide assistance in field based research and laboratory work and provide administrative support. The successful candidate will also support research group activities, field and laboratory training.

The person:

The successful candidate will be expected to have a relevant Bachelor degree (e.g. soil science, environmental science) with experience or an ability to undertake field and laboratory work and provide some administrative support.

Salary range:

Research Assistant Grade 2: $54,307 - $57,243. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $63,539 - $66,975 per annum; OR

Research Assistant Grade 1: $48,435 - $51,373. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $56,669 - $60,107 per annum.
